A lifelong Eastchester resident, Tony Colavita has spent much of his adult life serving the community where he was raised. He is currently serving his 12th consecutive term as Town Supervisor, a position he has held since 2004.

During more than two decades as Supervisor, he has focused on the fundamentals of local government: keeping taxes and spending under control, maintaining strong public services, protecting public safety, investing in parks, recreation facilities, infrastructure and preserving the quality of life that has made Eastchester a desirable place to live and raise a family.

That approach has helped put Eastchester on strong financial footing. The Town has earned Moody’s highest municipal bond rating—AAA—and has received a 0% fiscal-stress designation from the New York State Comptroller’s Office, which also ranks Eastchester in the top 1% for stable, well-managed finances.

Eastchester has never exceeded NY State’s 2% property tax cap. For the past 5 years, tax increases have been at or below 1.25 %.

Colavita has also made public safety a priority. Eastchester has a fully staffed and accredited police department. The Town has also partnered with the Eastchester and Tuckahoe school districts to place uniformed School Resource Officers on local school campuses. In addition, the Town has maintained a DARE program in Eastchester schools.

During his tenure, parks, recreational facilities and community institutions have been improved, including Lake Isle, the Library, Town Hall, every park and recreation facility in the Town.

His involvement in the community extends beyond Town Hall. He has been active with numerous civic, charitable and youth organizations and has been a longtime supporter of youth recreation.

The Tuckahoe-Eastchester Lions Club named him its Man of the Year in 2011. He was named Man of the Year in 2015 by the Eastchester Youth Soccer Association. In 2022, the association inducted Colavita into its Hall of Fame in recognition of his longstanding support for the organization and youth soccer in Eastchester.

His service to Eastchester began before he became Supervisor. He served six years as an Eastchester Town Councilman, from 1998 through 2003, before taking office as Supervisor in January 2004.

Outside Town Hall, Tony has practiced law in Eastchester since 1988. Before becoming Supervisor, he served as counsel to the New York State Senate and several years as counsel to the Eastchester Chamber of Commerce. He has also served on the boards of numerous mutual funds and ETFs and as a New York State Supreme Court Examiner.

He is a graduate of Colgate University, earned his law degree from Pace University School of Law and is the father of four children.
